Just a mention . . . and MEATBALL PIZZA

It's nearly George's birthday so I was happy to find my brothers in some more of Mom's letters; the memories and mind pictures came rushing back.

June 15, 1988: from Shoal Lake to Meilicke Road:  37 cent stamp
I stayed most of the day in bed as I was sleepy.  It’s very cloudy but so far no rain.
I baked a cake this afternoon and was knitting a bit.
June 16, 1988
Today I finished the windows.  George helped me to put them back as he was waiting for Matt as Matt was hauling grain to the elevator.
George said he may take me to see Nellie on Sunday.

I vacuumed the living room and my bedroom and washed the rest of the floors and dusted all in the morning.  I got up at 8:00 today.
I am lazy about knitting, haven’t done any yesterday or today.
I was talking to Aline.  She’s going to see the doctor in Shoal Lake on Monday and I will go with her to town.   She told me that George will be taking me to Nellie’s tomorrow so I will have to phone Nellie today.

We had a little rain yesterday after Matt watered my garden.  I am happy with my house, its clean windows.  I washed the kitchen walls.

Clare Connery explains that nowadays lamb chops from the neck or shoulder are commonly used in making Irish Stew.  I used shoulder chops and we really enjoyed her recipe on page 72 of

This cocktail is called an Irish Rose.

"Dad brought in the sourkraut" . . . and ROASTED SALMON

tonight or tomorrow.

We went to the prayer for late John Leschyshyn they even had a book to put our names down which I thought was odd there was a lot of people thats maybe why they had names down perhaps to know who was down.

You may think that it did not take long to make the chusions tops some I was able to make two in one day and it’s the ones that are made of gingham others I only made one a day but see I allways went to bed for an hour I didn’t even watch the edge of Night I don’t care much about it as you can catch up on it when you watch the next two or three times you don’t miss much

ROASTED SALMON:  so easy and sooooo delicious!

Salmon fillets with skin:  one for each serving (or plan to cut them in half for small portions)
Olive oil
Salt
Freshly ground pepper

1.     Preheat oven to 450.
2.     Brush skin side of fish with oil.  Place skin side down on a metal pan.
3.     Bake for 9 minutes until white juices begin to appear.
4.     Cut into middle of thick part to check if fish is done.  A really thick piece may need to go back into the oven for 3 more minutes.

THAT’S IT!    Thanks, Lucy Waverman!

Mom had a mandolin like this for shredding the cabbage for sauerkraut.  I hope someone still has it.
