One day in LE HAVRE, FRANCE, part 2 . . . and Mocktail #6

The City Centre has been declared a World Heritage Site for its post-war reconstruction.

Coffee break before starting a 2 mile climb up the hill to the Hanging Gardens (Les Jardins Suspendus)

Le Square St-Roch is a more accessible park in the centre of the city.

And back to the same pub for lunch – charcuterie, wine, beer . . .
Bon appétit!

Bryan’s LYCHEE-STRAWBERRY SHRUB   (1 serving)

1 ounce strawberry shrub
4 ounces lychee juice

Combine and pour into a high-ball glass which is ¾ full of ice cubes.  Top us with club soda.  Stir briefly.

TO PREPARE STRAWBERRY SHRUB:

Macerate 2 cups of strawberries with 1 cup sugar.
Refrigerate a day or two.
Strain.  Discard solids or add to your cereal.
Pour liquid into a clean jar and add 1 cup of apple cider vinegar.
Refrigerate for a couple of weeks.  The longer it stays, the mellower it gets.
Use the shrub for making drinks.
