I've been doing some more research on the Patterson Lake Disaster. I googled "Patterson Lake Manitoba Disaster" and up came the Oakburn Manitoba Centennial history:
http://manitobia.ca/resources/books/local_histories/099.pdf
I was intrigued by this picture of the students at Seech School taught by A. T. Siwicky.
I googled "Teachers at Seech School, Manitoba, and up came:
http://www.mhs.mb.ca/docs/sites/seechschool.shtml
There are some really nice pictures of the school
and it also told me that Mr. Siwicky taught at the school from 1915-1920. Perhaps some of my Stadnyk uncles are in this picture or maybe Dad's sister!
I've looked really hard at the picture, but I can't claim anyone.
I would love to visit the school, however, which has been moved to the Prairie Mountain Regional Museum which appears to be located on Hwy 16 between Shoal Lake and Strathclair:
The
Seech School District was organized formally in April 1908, and a school
building operated on the southeast quarter of 11-20-22 west of the Principal Meridian in what is now
the Municipality of Harrison Park. The school
closed in 1960. The building was later moved to the Prairie Mountain Regional Museum. A monument
at the original site commemorates it.
Among
the teachers of Seech School were Michael Belinsky (1910), Alex Klymkiw (1911),
N. Halas (1914), Andrew Siwicky (1915-1920), J. M. Panisiak (1920-1921), M.
Saranchuk (1921), S. Doroschuk (1921-1922), L. P. Roscoe (1922-1924), J. M.
