Most of the time, Nicole improvises as she goes along so often she doesn’t really have a recipe for me to share with you.   The Sesame Seed Buns that Bryan made today, however, are just great and easy to follow:
2 ½ cups flour
2 ¼ tsp yeast (or one package)
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp sugar
1 egg white
2 tbsp melted butter
¾ cup warm water
Sesame seeds

Combine all ingredients and knead.  Let rest one hour.
Grease a baking sheet.
Divide dough into 6 balls.  Dip the top of each ball in water and then sprinkle with seeds.
Cover and let rise 45 minutes.   Then, preheat oven to 375 degrees for 15 minutes.
Bake for 16 minutes until golden.

More BREAKFASTS in LAREDO

Each time we’re in Laredo, we’ve gone to PAULITA’S.

For several years now, it’s been Bryan’s favorite spot
for Huevos Rancheros (3 eggs!).

*********

PAT’S KITCHEN is a fun place to go but you have to wait until 10:30 am for it to open.
The owner (standing at the back and chatting with customers) sat down with us for a nice long chat, too.

The breakfast is so big, we split it up!

Bryan really enjoys diners so next we checked out KETTLE PANCAKES.

The first KETTLE PANCAKES restaurant opened in Texas in 1968,
and the décor of this one has a somewhat battered air of authenticity.

The “deuces” platter:  2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausages, and your choice of 2 pancakes or 2 French toast  J

This was our first visit, but it won’t be our last.

But, on Valentine’s Day with Kepler, the Big Breakfast at McDonald’s was perfect.

TACOS for BREAKFAST and FUN at Laredo's MALL DEL NORTE

Kepler sat nicely on a chair and ate all the egg filling out of his taco.  I tried giving him a couple of weiner bits out of mine but, at first, he popped them right back in front of me.

Then, all of a sudden, he dug into my taco and pulled out a  bit of weiner  which he took right down; then he dug in for another chunk!

Next up, the indoor playground.

Tunnel Adventures

Ride the Turtle

Conquer the Waterfall

Canoe with Pocahontas

Ride the Carousel

Sleep all the way home!

En Route to Laredo

The lady in the seat next to mine told me she and her husband flew out of New York that terrible morning of September 11.  They were heading for Canada but, all of a sudden, were rerouted to Minneapolis and had to stay there until Sept 14.  Everyone was nice to them and they were put up in a hotel for free.

They were told they were on one of the few flights that made it out before the airport was closed.

She’s originally from Australia and another interesting thing she said was that when she visited Ayre’s Rock she got covered with flies!  But she said the Rock was beautiful and changed colour during the day from red to purple.

Houston Airport: a huge, tasty “Original” Sandwich for only $5.49!

I also had a cream-filled donut, but, for a REALLY good one, I have to say a Ghostbuster from Robin's Donuts is the Crème de la Crème.
